Will ecoGlaze suit my Home?
To understand if ecoGlaze is the right product to treat your windows, we’ll have to have a look at what kind of windows are most likely to be in your home.
ecoGlaze is the right solution for you if you’re looking for a secondary glazing solution for your single glazed timber windows at a more accessible price and reduced hassle compared to replacing them with double glazing units.
ecoGlaze is suitable for most timber windows and some Aluminium ones. Let’s have a closer look:
Fixed Windows
A Non Opening Fixed piece of glass
This is a pane of glass that is fixed inside a Timber frame and does not have any section that slides in front of it, or opens in any way.
The window frame will need to have at least 40mm of available surface to fit an ecoGlaze Fixed Moulding.

Timber Awning Windows
Timber framed window swinging open vertically
This is a window with a sash that pivots outward from the top, typically mounted on hardware on the edge of the sash at either side. Generally, these windows have a winder or push out mechanism at the bottom.
The sash of this windows need to have at least 28mm of available surface on its face to fit an ecoGlaze On Sash Moulding. Most often Awnings are combined with Fixed Lite to the bottom and/or the side.

Timber Casement Windows or Doors
Timber framed window or door swinging open horizontally (single or double)
Very similar to an Awning window, the only difference is that this window sash pivots from the side and is mounted typically on hinges. It opens like a barn door.
The sash of this window has to have at least 28mm of available surface on its face to fit an ecoGlaze On Sash Moulding. Quite often Casement windows come in pairs but a casement windows or combined with a Fixed Lite to the side are also found.

Double Hung Windows
Timber framed window sliding vertically
Also known as sash windows, this is a window with a sash that slides up over the top sash. Sometimes both sashes can slide vertically.
Sash windows require at least 20mm of available space from the surface of the glass to the front sliding sash to fit an ecoGlaze In Sash Moulding.

Timber Sliding Windows or Doors
Timber framed window or door sliding horizontally
Sliding timber windows have a sash that slides horizontally over another piece of glass.
Sliding timber windows require at least 20mm of available space from the surface of the glass to the back of the sliding sash to fit an ecoGlaze In Sash Moulding.

Aluminim Sliding Windows or Doors
Aluminium framed window or door sliding horizontally
Single glazed aluminium window has one section that sliding in front of the other. These windows do not have enough space or clearance to fit or support the ecoGlaze system.

Commercial Grade Fixed Aluminium Windows
Aluminium framed window with a deep frame
A single glazed aluminium window that has a frame that is deeper than standard aluminium frames. They are designed for the commercial market and typically use thicker glass. Commercial grade Aluminium windows are not often found in domestic homes.
This type of windows will need at least 40mm of available surface to fit an ecoGlaze Fixed Moulding.
